Washington: NASA’s Mars InSight Lander has provided new data suggesting the presence of liquid water beneath the surface of the Red Planet. This finding strengthens the theory that Mars may have once supported life and offers new insights into what may have happened to the planet’s ancient oceans.
The InSight Lander, which has been on Mars since 2018, has measured seismic data over the past four years, using it to analyze the materials and substances found beneath the surface.
Based on this data, researchers have concluded that there is a high likelihood of liquid water lying below Mars’ surface. Geological studies also indicate that approximately three billion years ago, Mars may have had lakes, rivers, and even oceans.
This discovery could provide important clues for future Mars missions, especially those aimed at determining the potential for microbial life on Mars and better understanding the planet’s geological history.
