Emirates Passengers Eat Over 64 Million Chocolates a Year, Airline Reveals

 

Dubai: Emirates Airline passengers consumed more than 64 million premium chocolates over the past year, marking a 5% increase from the previous year. The airline also revealed growing demand for region-specific chocolate flavors served across its global network.

According to the airline, the overall consumption of chocolate has recorded an increase of about 5% year-on-year. About 26 million chocolate desserts are also prepared for passengers every year, which are served to economy, premium economy, business and first class passengers.

According to Emirates, about 750,000 kilograms of premium chocolates are loaded onto planes from renowned suppliers every year for its flights around the world, while another 260,000 kilograms of chocolate are used to prepare various chocolate desserts.

According to the airline, there has been a significant increase in the popularity of dark chocolate, especially with a high cocoa content, while salted caramel remains the most popular flavor.

Emirates said that chocolate flavors and combinations are also changed to suit the preferences of passengers from different regions, with pistachio chocolate being preferred on flights to the Middle East, while chocolates made with a combination of yuzu, matcha and tropical fruits are offered on Asian routes.

Similarly, chocolate desserts made with berries and stone fruits are particularly popular with passengers on Mediterranean routes, which are offered to passengers traveling in different classes.
