India should cooperate with Pakistan to reduce tensions and bring peace to the region: US

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, after speaking with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, held a telephone conversation with Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar, urging India to work with Pakistan to reduce tensions and ensure peace and stability in South Asia.

Marco Rubio emphasized the need for India to engage with Pakistan in efforts to de-escalate the situation and maintain regional peace. During the call, he also expressed sorrow over the loss of lives in the Pahalgam attack.

He reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to cooperate with India in the fight against terrorism. In a statement, U.S. State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce confirmed the conversation and reiterated the U.S. commitment to counterterrorism cooperation with India and expressed condolences over the Pahalgam incident.

**Marco Rubio’s Telephonic Conversation with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif**

Earlier, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio had a telephonic conversation with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, during which the Prime Minister briefed him on Pakistan’s perspective regarding the recent developments in South Asia.

Highlighting Pakistan’s critical role in the fight against terrorism, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that Pakistan has sacrificed more than 90,000 lives and suffered over $152 billion in economic losses in the global war on terror.

Marco Rubio emphasized the importance of continued cooperation between both sides to maintain peace in South Asia.
