Washington: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has made significant progress toward acquiring 16 new Boeing aircraft following high-level talks in Washington. Officials say both sides agreed to work toward finalizing the deal as soon as possible.
According to sources, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with Boeing Global President Brendan Nelson, and a delegation of the new PIA management also accompanied him on this occasion.
In the meeting, important progress was made in the purchase of 16 new aircraft for PIA, the best options for the purchase of 16 new aircraft for PIA were discussed and it was agreed to finalize the best deal as soon as possible in the meeting.
Mohsin Naqvi thanked Boeing Global President Brendan Nelson for his assurance of cooperation for the early purchase of new aircraft for PIA.

It should be noted that the issue of purchasing new aircraft by Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has been under consideration for the past several months. Due to the financial difficulties faced by the national airline, the old fleet and increasing operational requirements, the government had decided to modernize the PIA fleet.
In this regard, the government has initiated contacts with various global aircraft manufacturers to acquire modern and fuel-efficient aircraft that would help improve the performance of the national airline.
According to sources, the new management of PIA has also included fleet expansion among its priorities and several initial consultations and contacts have been held in this regard. The government is of the view that the inclusion of new aircraft will make it possible to increase the number of flights, reduce operational costs and provide better travel facilities to passengers.
In addition, a modern fleet is also being considered important to strengthen PIA’s presence on international routes and make the privatization or investment process more effective in the future.
In this context, the meeting between Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, the new PIA administration, and Boeing officials in Washington is being described as a significant development in this process, where it was agreed to quickly finalize various options and a possible agreement for the purchase of 16 new aircraft for PIA.
