Pakistan, Qatar Step Up Diplomatic Efforts to Ease US-Iran Tensions

 

Washington: Pakistan and Qatar, along with several regional countries, are intensifying diplomatic efforts to help reduce tensions between the United States and Iran. According to Axios, behind-the-scenes contacts are continuing to revive nuclear negotiations and prevent further escalation.

According to a report by the American news website Axios, Pakistan, Qatar, Turkey, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia are busy reducing rising tensions between the US and Iran.

Axios further said that the third-party countries are intensifying diplomatic contacts to revive the nuclear talks, and efforts are underway to resume technical-level talks between the two countries.

The report also said that the third-party countries are making great efforts to maintain the memorandum of understanding, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi spoke to Field Marshal Asim Munir by telephone, and the Iranian Foreign Minister told the Field Marshal that the US attacks are a violation of the agreement.

According to Axios, President Trump wants a diplomatic solution to the dispute despite the tension, and Trump wants to continue technical negotiations for the nuclear deal.

According to the American media group, recent diplomatic efforts have resulted in a decrease in tensions between the two countries.

Earlier, a US official said that despite the attacks, negotiations between the US and Iran are ongoing, and the US is still committed to reaching a solution with Iran.

According to the US official, technical-level negotiations with Iran are still ongoing, although military tensions between the two countries remain, but diplomatic contacts and negotiations are also ongoing to find a solution to the dispute.

Earlier, the Turkish news agency claimed that Pakistan and Qatar (the mediators) have contacted the US and Iran and urged both sides to stop the war and come to the negotiating table under the agreement.

According to the Anadolu report, Pakistani government sources close to the mediation process said that Pakistan and Qatar have made fresh contacts to get the US and Iran to stop the war and return to negotiations.

Citing the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, the sources said that Pakistan, along with Qatar, is in contact with Washington and Tehran so that both sides can end the tension and return to negotiations under the agreement.

Pakistani sources said that what is happening at this time was not expected, but the issues between the two sides are complex and extremely serious.
