India has sent a war fleet equipped with supersonic cruise missiles towards Pakistan, preparing to attack Karachi port after several days of cross-border clashes with Pakistan.
According to the British newspaper ‘The Telegraph’, both Pakistan and India are nuclear-armed countries, and recent developments have increased tensions to a dangerous level.
The report said that New Delhi has moved its western fleet closer to the North Arabian Sea, which has come within range of attack on Pakistan’s largest port city, Karachi.
According to the report, the Indian Navy’s fleet includes aircraft carriers, destroyers, frigates and anti-submarine ships, which are located about 300 to 400 miles from the Pakistani coast.
Some of the ships are equipped with the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile, developed with Russian cooperation, which can carry a 300-kilogram warhead and is capable of hitting targets 500 miles away.
Analysts have warned that if Karachi is targeted, it could prove disastrous for Pakistan, as the Karachi port handles 60 percent of the country’s trade and is also home to the navy’s headquarters.
