Lahore: The rising heat across Punjab has left citizens exhausted, and the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a grim forecast with no signs of relief in the coming days.
Dry weather and steadily increasing temperatures are being reported in Lahore and other major cities. The PMD has warned that no rainfall is expected, and the heatwave is likely to intensify further.
With soaring temperatures, the use of air conditioners in homes, offices, and commercial spaces has surged dramatically, leading to a noticeable spike in electricity consumption and demand.
According to the Met Office, Lahore is expected to experience minimum temperatures of 22–23°C, while maximum temperatures could hit 40°C. The humidity level has dropped to a mere 20%, raising concerns over dehydration and physical discomfort.
Meanwhile, dusty winds are likely in southern districts of Punjab. Over the next 24 hours, no rain is forecasted across most of the province, suggesting prolonged dry and hot conditions.
Health experts are advising citizens to stay indoors unless necessary, use masks, and take special care of children, the elderly, and people with respiratory conditions, as the dry air and high temperatures could pose serious health risks.
