43-Year-Old Dhoni Achieves Unique Milestone in IPL

Chennai Super Kings’ 43-year-old wicketkeeper-batter MS Dhoni made history in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

On Monday, Chennai Super Kings defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 5 wickets, registering their second win of the tournament.

In the match played in Lucknow, Chennai won the toss and opted to bowl. Lucknow Super Giants posted 166 runs for 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

In response, Chennai chased down the target in the final over, thanks to a rapid innings by Dhoni.

Dhoni played an unbeaten knock of 26 runs off just 11 balls, smashing 4 fours and 1 six. Shivam Dube also contributed with an unbeaten 43 off 37 balls.

For his brilliant batting, along with 2 stumpings and a run-out, Dhoni was awarded the Player of the Match—marking a historic moment in IPL.

According to Indian media, the 43-year-old Dhoni has now become the oldest player in IPL history to win the Player of the Match award.

Dhoni expressed surprise upon receiving the award, saying during the post-match presentation, “I was wondering why they were giving it to me—Noor bowled really well, he deserved it.”

As of now, Chennai Super Kings have played 7 matches in IPL 2025, losing 5 and winning 2. They are currently at the bottom of the points table with 4 points.
