Core Dispute with India Still Unresolved; If War Is What India Wants, Pakistan Is Ready: DG ISPR

Rawalpindi: Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, has stated unequivocally that the core conflict between Pakistan and India remains unresolved. He said if India desires war, then Pakistan is fully prepared for it—although the country continues to prioritize peace.

Speaking to the BBC in an interview, the army spokesperson stressed that Pakistan has responded to recent provocations with great maturity and restraint. “We are a peace-loving nation and always prefer dialogue over hostility. However, if India seeks war, we are not only ready—we will respond accordingly,” he said.

General Chaudhry remarked that India’s aggressive posture appears to be driven more by its domestic political considerations than actual strategic concerns. “Every few years, India fabricates a narrative to serve internal political goals,” he added.

He clarified that diplomacy and political affairs do not fall under the purview of the military, reinforcing that the military remains focused on defense and security matters.

“The root issue between the two nations is still unresolved and can ignite tensions at any moment,” he warned. He also accused India of arrogance and hubris, stating, “India is acting out of overconfidence.”
