Pakistan is a responsible nuclear state, wants peace: Asim Iftikhar

New York: Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Asim Iftikhar has said that Pakistan is a responsible nuclear state and we want peace.

In an interview with the Turkish Broadcasting Corporation, he said that Pakistan has been saying from the beginning that we have nothing to do with the Pahalgam incident, in response to baseless allegations, we demand an impartial, credible and transparent investigation.

Asim Iftikhar said that India did not wait for the investigation of the Pahalgam incident, India also ignored the appeals of the international community for restraint and reduction of tension.

He clarified that on the night of May 6 and 7, India demonstrated aggression against Pakistan, to which Pakistan had to respond, Pakistan has the right to defend itself under international law and the UN Charter.

He also said that Pakistan’s position as a responsible nuclear state is very clear, we want peace, we are not going in the direction of using nuclear weapons at all.

He bluntly stated that we cannot accept that a country should level allegations on its own and then become its own judge and jury.
