The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has announced the termination of CNIC services provided through selected Pakistan Post offices across the country, including Karachi.
According to sources, the decision was made due to low utilization of the service and lack of public awareness. NADRA had launched this initiative three years ago to facilitate public access to key services.
Through this initiative, citizens were able to renew their national identity cards, change their addresses, and update marital status, among other services, by visiting post offices.
Under a 10-year agreement, NADRA had established dedicated counters in selected post offices in major cities including Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad.
Officials attributed the limited outreach of the program to insufficient public awareness.
NADRA has instructed all staff deployed at General Post Offices (GPOs) to return equipment and collected service fees. This decision has affected approximately 83 counters across all four provinces and Azad Kashmir.
