The Foreign Office Spokesperson has said that negotiations are ongoing with the Afghan Taliban in Istanbul, there is no deadlock at present, Afghan soil is being continuously used against Pakistan, innocent people are being targeted in the ongoing attacks from Afghanistan.

Speaking at the weekly briefing at the Foreign Office on Friday, Spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said that negotiations between Pakistan and Afghanistan are currently ongoing. The Foreign Office Spokesperson said that Afghan soil is being continuously used against Pakistan, innocent people are being targeted in the ongoing attacks from Afghanistan, terrorists from Afghanistan are forming and carrying out attacks towards Pakistan, Pakistan’s main demand is that Afghan soil should not be used against Pakistan.

He said that talks between Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban began in Istanbul yesterday, and the talks are being held under the presence and supervision of mediators.

The spokesperson said that Additional Secretary Syed Ali Asad Gilani is part of the Istanbul negotiation delegation to represent the Foreign Office, while National Security Advisor and DG ISI Lieutenant General Asim Malik is also leading the negotiation delegation.

Pakistan issues visas to 2,400 Hindu pilgrims

The spokesperson said that on Wednesday, Indian media reported that Hindu pilgrims were being prevented from entering Pakistan. Pakistan strongly denies this news. Pakistan issued visas to 2,400 Hindu pilgrims. Indian claims and news are contrary to facts. Some Hindu pilgrims were sent back on the basis of incomplete documents.

He said that most of the pilgrims who came for the celebrations of Baba Guru Nanak were from the Sikh faith, however, pilgrims of other faiths have also come from India. More than 1,900 pilgrims entered Pakistan on November 4.

The spokesperson of the Foreign Office rejected the Afghan Taliban’s claim regarding the firing at the Chaman border, he said that in fact the firing was carried out by the Afghan Taliban, Pakistan’s security forces responded effectively to the firing, due to such incidents, the borders remain closed.

The spokesperson said that the Chaman incident did not set a good example regarding the opening of borders. The borders with Afghanistan will remain closed until the security situation improves. Any decision regarding the borders will be taken keeping in mind the security situation.

The spokesperson said that the issue of Afghanistan’s violation of the Chaman border will also be raised in the Istanbul talks.

The news of ISIS presence in Pakistan is baseless

Tahir Andrabi said that the news of ISIS presence in Pakistan is baseless. The claim of Afghan social media accounts in this regard is false and contrary to facts. The existence of ISIS cannot be tolerated in any religious society.

The spokesperson further said that Pakistan rejected the meetings of the intelligence agency with the intelligence agency of another country. Pakistan neither held any meeting nor asked anyone for money in exchange for the Gaza army. The Indian media is famous for baseless news.
