Lahore: In the wake of allegations made by party leader Azam Swati, Hammad Azhar, the acting president of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Punjab, has resigned from his party position.
Azhar announced that he would relinquish all of his roles within the party and clarified that his resignation is final and irrevocable. In a special statement released to the media, Hammad Azhar explained that Azam Swati had informed the founder of PTI that obstacles were being placed in the work of Aaliya Hamza.
When the PTI founder asked who was responsible for creating these obstacles, Azam Swati allegedly named Hammad Azhar.
Azhar, in response, spoke with Aaliya Hamza, who expressed surprise at the claim, confirming that she had never faced any obstruction from him. Azhar then pointed out that the solution to this issue was simple; his authority had already been transferred to the four regional presidents in June of the previous year.
He further added that the organization in his constituency had also been appointed without his consultation or approval.
Hammad Azhar clarified that this was his third attempt to resign, with his previous two resignations having been rejected. However, he stated that this time, his resignation is definitive, and he will now continue working as a party worker, without seeking any future party position. Azhar emphasized that this resignation was final and that he would no longer seek any party leadership role.
