Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 22 Indian-backed terrorists killed in forces operation in Bannu

During an intelligence-based operation, forces carried out an effective attack on the Khawarij hideout, clearance operation is underway, ISPR; Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif pays tribute to the forces

22 terrorists of the Indian-sponsored Fitnat-ul-Khawarij were killed in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Tuesday, the security forces carried out the operation on Monday based on information that Indian proxies were present in the Khawarij area of Fitnat-ul-Khawarij.

Fitnat-ul-Khawarij is a term used by the state for terrorists who belong to the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

The ISPR statement said that during the operation, the forces effectively attacked the hideout of the Khawarij and after a fierce exchange of fire, 22 Khawarij were killed.

The statement further said that a clearance operation is underway to eliminate any other terrorists present in the area.

The ISPR said that the campaign against terrorism by the security forces and law enforcement agencies will continue with full intensity, so that foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism can be eradicated from the country.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, while paying tribute to the successful operation of the security forces, said that they are achieving ‘significant successes’ against terrorism under the vision of determination to stabilize.

The Prime Minister said that the entire nation stands with the armed forces of Pakistan against terrorism, we are determined to completely eliminate all forms of terrorism from the country.

It should be noted that Pakistan, especially Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, has seen an increase in terrorist activities since the outlawed TTP ended its ceasefire in November 2022.
