Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has said that Pakistan wants peace with all its neighbors, including Afghanistan, but Pakistan will not tolerate terrorism on its soil or on Afghan soil.
According to the Public Relations Department of the Pakistan Army (ISPR), Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir visited Peshawar, where he met a jirga of tribal elders.
The Pakistan Army spokesperson said that upon Field Marshal Asim Munir’s arrival in Peshawar, he was received by the Corps Commander Peshawar. The Army Chief was briefed on the security situation at the Corps Headquarters Peshawar.
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir was given a comprehensive briefing on border peace, operational preparedness and ongoing counter-terrorism efforts for peace and stability on the Pak-Afghan border.
According to the ISPR, the tribal elders reiterated their full cooperation with the army against terrorism and the Afghan Taliban.
Addressing the jirga, the Army Chief appreciated the unwavering support of the tribal people and paid tribute to the tribal people for their cooperation with the security forces during the recent Pak-Afghan tensions.
Field Marshal Asim Munir said that terrorism will be completely eradicated from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the entire country, while he paid great tribute to the resilience and sacrifices of the brave people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the war against terrorism.

The Army Chief clarified that despite the continuous terrorism from Afghanistan, Pakistan has shown restraint in the last few years and has taken several steps at the diplomatic and economic levels to improve Pak-Afghan relations.
The Pakistan Army Chief expressed concern over the behavior of the Afghan Taliban and said that instead of taking action against the Indian-backed groups ‘Fitnat-ul-Kharij and Fitnat-ul-Hindustan’, the Afghan Taliban is backing them and providing them with all possible assistance.
