Islamabad: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has ordered a reduction in K-Electric’s tariff by Rs 7.60 per unit.
Nepra has issued a decision on K-Electric’s requests for review of its multi-year tariff for the financial year 2024 to 2030.
Under the decision, Nepra has reduced K-Electric’s average tariff from Rs 39.97 per unit to Rs 32.37 per unit.
Nepra officials said that Nepra’s previous decision regarding the right of claims remains in effect, while this decision relates to K-Electric’s generation, transmission, distribution and supply.
Under the NEPRA decision, the K-Electric tariff has been reduced by Rs 7.60, however, the burden of Rs 50 billion on consumers in terms of Right of Claims has been maintained.
On the other hand, in this regard, a K-Electric spokesperson has said that they are reviewing the NEPRA decision in detail. The decision covers many aspects of K-Electric’s generation, transmission, distribution and supply business, while the company will take all legal avenues in this regard.
