Islamabad: Pakistan is observing Thanksgiving Day across the nation today to commemorate the remarkable success of Operation Bunyad-e-Marsus, carried out in response to Indian military aggression. The people of Pakistan are honoring the armed forces for their valor and determination.
The day began with Quran recitations and special prayers in mosques throughout the country. A 31-gun salute in the federal capital and 21-gun salutes in each of the provincial capitals marked the nation’s gratitude and patriotic spirit.
Ceremonial guard-changing events were held at the mausoleums of Quaid-e-Azam in Karachi and Allama Iqbal in Lahore. Flag hoisting ceremonies were also organized in major cities, while floral tributes were laid at martyrs’ memorials, accompanied by solemn commemorative events.
Special meetings were arranged with the families of martyrs from Operation Bunyad-e-Marsus to pay homage to their immense sacrifices. Friday prayers included special supplications for national peace, security, and prosperity.
The highlight of the day will be a grand event tonight at the Pakistan Monument in Islamabad, with the Prime Minister as the chief guest. Top military officials, including the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and heads of the armed forces, are expected to attend.
It is worth recalling that during the night of May 6 and 7, Pakistan responded decisively to Indian military actions by shooting down five fighter jets, including three Rafale aircraft. On May 10, Pakistan once again demonstrated its commitment to sovereignty, earning international recognition and even sparking internal debate within India.
