Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Visits Kamra Airbase, Meets PAF Heroes Who Downed Indian Jets

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited Kamra Airbase and met with the valiant pilots of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) who shattered the illusion of enemy air superiority during one of the longest aerial confrontations of the 21st century.

During his visit to Kamra, the Prime Minister was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and senior civil and military leadership.

Pakistan Television will broadcast the Prime Minister’s historic conversation this evening with the PAF personnel who thwarted Indian aerial aggression.

It is worth recalling that tensions escalated between India and Pakistan following the Pahalgam incident on April 22, 2025, which led to a series of diplomatic and military escalations.

India initiated a diplomatic offensive by suspending the Indus Waters Treaty, restricting the movement of Pakistani diplomatic staff, and cancelling visas of all Pakistani nationals in India, including children receiving medical treatment, forcing them to return home.

In response, Pakistan declared India’s suspension of the treaty an act of war. Islamabad also restricted Indian diplomatic staff, cancelled visas for all Indian citizens except Sikh pilgrims, and suspended all trade and airspace access for Indian flights.

Subsequently, during the night of February 6 and 7, India launched missile strikes on six locations including Kotli, Bahawalpur, Muridke, Bagh, and Muzaffarabad, resulting in 26 civilian deaths and 46 injuries. Pakistan immediately retaliated by downing five Indian fighter jets, including three Rafale aircraft.

On the night of February 10, India targeted three Pakistani airbases with missile and drone attacks. In response, Pakistan launched **Operation Bunyān Marsūs** (Iron Wall) at dawn, targeting Indian sites including Udhampur, Pathankot, Adampur airbases, multiple airfields, BrahMos missile storage facilities, and the S-400 air defense systems.

Security sources stated that the PAF struck only those bases from which attacks were launched against Pakistani civilians and mosques.

The operation began at the break of dawn with the launch of Fatah-1 missiles into Indian territory. Pakistani missiles destroyed the BrahMos storage site in Beas, eliminated the airfield at Pathankot, and struck military intelligence training centers in Rajouri and Nowshera, which were allegedly involved in orchestrating terrorism inside Pakistan.
