New Zealand’s Mike Hesson has been appointed head coach of Pakistan’s white ball team, while former interim head coach Aqib Javed has been appointed Director High Performance.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi wrote in his post on ‘X’ that ‘After considering numerous applications, I announce that former New Zealand cricketer Mike Hesson has been appointed head coach of the national team and he will assume his duties from May 26.’
It should be noted that former head coach of the New Zealand cricket team Mike Hesson was a strong candidate to replace Aqib Javed as Pakistan’s head coach. He was also the head coach of Islamabad United at that time.
The contract of Aqib Javed, who served as an interim coach after Gary Kirsten resigned, also expired in February 2025.

On the other hand, former interim head coach of the national cricket team Aqib Javed has been appointed Director High Performance.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi said in his second post on ‘X’ that ‘Aqib Javed has been appointed as Director High Performance to strengthen the infrastructure of cricket.’
He said that Mike Hesson and Aqib Javed will together play an important role in the development and success of cricket.
