When was the Indus Water Treaty signed, Can India shut off Pakistan’s water?

ISLAMABAD: India has announced the closure of water after demonstrating water aggression in Pahalgam area of occupied Kashmir, although this is not possible under the Indus Treaty.

The historic Indus Treaty of Water between Pakistan and India was under the supervision of the World Bank in 1960, under which the East River India, while the western river Pakistan, is guaranteed to distribute water, but Pakistan has repeatedly objected to some of India’s water activities.

On the Sindh Tas Treaty, on September 19, 1960, Pakistan was reached between the then military president Ayub Khan and Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru in Karachi and the World Bank played a role in the agreement.

Under the agreement under the supervision of the World Bank, Western rivers, Sindh, Jhelum and Chenab Pakistan, the eastern rivers, Ravi, Beas and Sutlej, were given control of India.

Under the agreement, India was given full control of the eastern rivers, while Pakistan’s first right was recognized on the western rivers, however, India was granted conditional permits of irrigation, hydroelectric power.

Pakistan was threatened that India could use water as a weapon by violating the deal, which is why the agreement also included a comprehensive conflict resolution system, including the formation of the Indus Water Commission, the annual meeting and the visits and access to the World Arbitration Forums.

Pakistan has repeatedly accused Pakistan of violating the agreement over the construction of Kishan Ganga, Baglihar and Ratley Dams in the past decades and raised the matter globally.

It has been a permanent stance from Pakistan that the Indus Treaty is an irreversible global agreement, which will be considered a serious violation of international law by any party unilaterally withdrawing or violating.

This agreement for the distribution of rivers between Pakistan-India has been its place for 62 years despite many wars, differences and conflicts, but the unilateral decision on the suspension of the Indus Treaty Treaty by India yesterday is nothing but a water aggression because it has neither moral nor morally.
